Accounting Monopoly

Players move around the board answering accounting questions to acquire properties, earn points, and manage audit risk. The goal is to build the strongest financial position while minimizing audit exposure.

1. Roll dice
2. Move counterclockwise
3. Land on a space
4. Resolve the space
5. End turn

If unowned: Correct answer means the player may purchase. An incorrect answer means the property cannot be purchased on that turn.

If owned: Correct answer avoids penalties. An incorrect answer means rent is due and the player gains +1 Audit Flag.

Audit Flags represent accounting mistakes and unresolved risk.

• Answering incorrectly
• Failing property challenges
• Certain event penalties

Flags accumulate over time and are resolved during audits.

Audits are triggered when a player passes Fiscal Year Start.

Audit difficulty by flags: 0-1 flags = Easy, 2-3 flags = Medium, 4+ flags = Hard.

Questions required: 1-2 flags = 1 question, 3-4 flags = 2 questions, 5+ flags = 3 questions.

Results: Success reduces flags and can award a bonus plus a Tax Shield. Failure applies penalties that scale with the current flag count.

Tax Shields are defensive resources that can:

• Cancel one audit failure
• Avoid penalties
• Escape Under Audit
• Ignore negative card effects

Ledger Surprise: Positive or swingy rewards.

Market Shift: Risk and reward event cards.

Advisory Routes: Strategic movement bonus spaces.

Utilities: Gameplay advantages and review checkpoints.

Tax / Penalty: Immediate losses or increased risk.

Under Audit: Lose a turn or answer correctly to recover.

Referred to Audit: Move directly to Under Audit.

Study Break: Safe recovery space.

Difficulty increases as players move around the board.

• Early spaces = Easy
• Mid-board spaces = Medium
• Late-board spaces = Hard

Players must balance accuracy, property control, and audit exposure. Mistakes can compound, but strong decisions, shields, and careful play can offset risk before the next audit arrives.
